Classic buttermilk biscuits are a staple in my household. Quick, easy, and light as a feather, they can be served for breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and even dessert! The technique is simple (hint: freeze the butter and use a light touch) but the results are spectacular.
6 tablespoons (3 ounces) unsalted butter
2 cups (10 ounces) unbleached all-purpose flour, plus a little more for dusting
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder

Are American biscuits the same as British scones?
Both look very similar in appearance, but accordingly to Wikipedia, most British scones are traditionally made with just butter, wheras American biscuits are more often made with animal fat or vegetable shortening. Most British scones are usually sweet, served with coffee and tea whereas most American biscuits are served more as bread and often as breakfast. - See more at: http://www.bakeforhappykids.com/2013/09/buttermilk-bisc
